At Deansgate Dental Studio, our highly skilled team are able to offer implant retained dentures as an alternative to traditional dentures. Working in a similar way, and fulfilling the same function as traditional dentures, implant retained dentures are instead held in place through an implant, rather than with a dental adhesive.
As with all implant treatments, receiving implant retained dentures usually occurs over several months, and requires multiple trips to the practice. The implants themselves will be placed first, and will be done under local anaesthetic, so you won’t feel a thing. We’ll then apply a temporary prosthesis so that you can continue to talk and eat with ease while we wait for the jawbone and implants to fuse together – this usually takes a month or two.
Once this has happened, we’ll be able to fit you for your permanent dentures. Like traditional dentures, these will also be removable, but instead of being held in place with an adhesive, they’ll be held in place via the implant. This allows you to go out and enjoy your life without the worry of the dentures slipping or dislodging during speech or a meal.
