At Deansgate Dental Studio, we understand that a tooth extraction can be a daunting prospect for a patient, but as a preventive-led practice that promotes biomimetic dentistry, we will only ever recommend this treatment when it’s necessary to securing the overall oral health of the patient. Our team are also highly skilled and specialised, and we’ll make sure you’re in comfort throughout the treatment.
Some possible reasons for requiring a tooth extraction include a tooth or teeth that are damaged beyond repair due to decay or infection such as from gum disease. Alternatively, we may recommend tooth extraction for overcrowding issues, or an impacted or infected wisdom tooth.
A tooth extraction can either be ‘simple’, during which the tooth in question will simply and gently be removed through the use of forceps, or ‘surgical’. A surgical extraction is usually used when the tooth is broken or impacted – i.e., buried beneath the gum line. In both cases, the patient will be placed under anaesthetic so they cannot feel a thing.
If you are having a tooth removed due to damage or decay, then we are likely to recommend replacement. We’re able to offer a wide range of tooth replacement options here at Deansgate Dental Studio, including dental bridges, dentures, and implants – if you are interested in any of these treatments and replacement options, you should request a socket graft when booking your tooth extraction.
