What are white fillings made of?

White fillings are made of a composite material that we’re able to shade-matched to your natural teeth. It is then sculpted into shape by our team, so that it fits in with the natural tooth and the rest of the mouth practically invisibly.

Are white fillings durable?

Advances in modern materials mean white fillings are almost as durable as amalgam fillings. While white fillings may not last as long as amalgam fillings, they do protect the tooth even more as they are bonded to them leaving them fortified against future damage.

Can I replace my amalgam fillings with a white filling?

In most cases, we will be able to replace a traditional amalgam filling with a white filling, although we’ll first have to ascertain your suitability for this treatment. Some patients decide to replace their fillings simply for aesthetic reasons, while others choose to do so as white fillings do not contain any mercury.

How long do white fillings last?

White fillings last for about 7-10 years.
